Lian Zhen
	Lian Zhen is an award winging artist and teacher in watercolor and Chinese painting nationwide and abroad. Also, he is the author of two of the most popular art books published by North Light Books in the US. He started sketching and painting since he was ten-years old and continue as his hobby when he was a family physician in Canton Province, China. In 1985 he immigrated to the United States. He received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of California at Berkeley in 1992 and a Master of Architecture Degree from MIT in 1996. He has many shows in the US, Hong Kong and China and developed an international following. His paintings hang in numerous institutional and private collections including the MIT Museum which has collected 14 of his paintings. Among awards he has received including both 1997 and 1998 awards from the International Animal in Arts Competition. His art teaching experience includes at the University of California at Berkeley where he taught watercolor outdoor sketching for 8 years; watercolor and Chinese painting workshops nationwide in the US and Europe, Canada, Mexico, China and South Africa (see his workshop schedules on the Workshops page). Furthermore, Lian has been an invited juror for art shows. Watercolor 94 Spring, Splash4, the Splendor of Light, Collectors (Hong Kong) and Landscape on Watercolor (UK), Painter's Quick Reference - Flowers and Blooms, Painter's Quick Reference - Dogs and Cats (North Light Books) featured his works. His two books published by North Light Books are sold internationally. The Chinese Painting Techniques for Exquisite Watercolor, published in October of 2000 and the Chinese Watercolor Techniques - Painting Animals, published in December of 2004, along with video and DVD demos made by Teaching Arts in UK. Both books were main selections for North Light Book Club members. He is now working on his third book with the publisher focus on painting flowers. It will be published in Fall of 2008. Also, Lian self-published his painting book named "Spirit of Life" that collected 56 of his paintings in 2003.

	Chinese Watercolor Painting Techniques - Painting Animals, published in December 2004 by North Light Books. Lian's powerful art illustrates the limitless creative possibilities of Chinese and watercolor paintings. He combines his inspirational art with clear, practical instruction in easy-to-follow demonstrations. You are sure to discover nature's beauty in new ways as you uncover the secrets of Lian's art. This book is North Light's main selection book of February, 2005.
	Chinese Painting Techniques for Exquisite Watercolors, was published in November 2000 by North Light Books. Lian demonstrates both Chinese painting and watercolor painting techniques, and the integration between eastern and western arts. It has total 144 pages and 246 illustrations. The book was publish by North Light Books in United States and by David & Charles in England. This book is North Light's main selection book of January, 2001.
	Fifty-page book has 56 Lian Zhen's painting dated from 1993 to 2003.

Splash 4, the Splendor of Light	Book published by North Light in 1996. It shows two paintings by Lian Zhen. The book is a collection of paintings which "109 of American's best contemporary watercolorists show and tell you how they capture the drama and mood of light."
The Collectors, Vol 24 1995 (Hong Kong)	Magazine published in Hong Kong. Six paintings from Lian were selected.
Watercolor 94 Spring	Lian's article and demonstration "Combining Eastern and Western Techniques" was sellected by the American Artist Publication.

	Influenced by her father, an art professor, Yiling started sketching and painting from her childhood. After middle school, she attended Tianjin Art and Craft school where she studied under great painting masters. Later she was accepted by the Beijing Art and Craft University, one of the best art colleges in China. From 1998 to 2001 she studied graphic design in Malaysia and United Kingdom. She got her Bachelor of Graphic Design from Nottingham Trent University in England. After married to Lian Zhen she moved to the US in 2004. In 2005 she won a Silver Award from the Alameda County Fair Art Exhibition.
