Paint Happy and Cook Healthy Lake Tahoe Workshop
(September 14 to 19, 2008)

This workshop in September 2007 was full and I have received great complements from students. See the workshop pictures below. In 2008 we will be in a new lodge that is just next to the lake, with bath in each room.

Workshop theme

The 4/1/2-day workshop holds at Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center, a historical place with its inspirational beauty at the waterfront of Lake Tahoe, about 3 miles from South Tahoe City. This workshop is focus on learning watercolor and Chinese painting techniques, healthy Chinese home cooking and Tai-Chi (a slow movement exercise). At this workshop you study the following:
1. Two styles of Chinese painting: the spontaneous style and the detail style.
2. Lian Zhen's watercolor painting techniques including the color pouring and blending.
3. Cook a Chinese family dinner with 7 courses.
4. Tai-Chi.
You will bring several finish paintings and recipes of the Chinese food home.

Location

Lodging and workshop are in the same building, the Tahoe Center (each room has a bath) at the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center. It is about 1 hour 15 minutes from Reno/Tahoe International Airport. Each day there are about 10 Airport shuttles making round trips from the airport to South Lake Tahoe (www.southtahoeexpress.com. Tell: 1-866-898-2463,1-775-325-8944). To stay extra nights in the Center, please contact the Center to book your own lodging.

Schedule

September 14 (Sunday)
3:00pm - 6pm: Check-in
7:00pm - 7:30pm: Reception

September 15 to 18 (Monday to Thursday)
7:15am - 7:35am: Tai-Chi
7:45am - 8:45am: Breakfast
9:00am - 11:40am: Chinese painting (Monday and Tuesday), Watercolor (Wednesday and Thursday)
11:45am -12:45pm: Lunch
1:30pm - 5:00pm: Chinese painting (Monday and Tuesday), Watercolor (Wednesday and Thursday)
5:45pm - 6:45pm: Dinner

Chinese cooking demo and dinner on Thursday 5pm - 8:30pm. Also, Chinese dumpling making demo is Thursday night.

September 19 (Friday)
7:15am - 7:35am: Tai-Chi
7:45am - 8:30am: Chinese dumpling breakfast
8:45am-10:am: Painting critics
10:00am-11:00am: Clean up
11:00am Departure

Fee:
1. Student: $850.00 includes lodging for 5 nights (double room occupancy, single room occupancy add $175.00), tuition, three meals each day from Monday to Thursday (one Chinese dinner on Thursday, and the Chinese dumpling breakfast on Friday.
2. For non-student (students' spouses, family members and friends, one per student): $375.00 includes 5 night lodging (double occupancy), three meals each day from Monday to Thursday (one Chinese dinner on Thursday, and the Chinese dumpling breakfast on Friday).

Minimum number of students: 12. Maximum number of students: 25.

Deposits: Due on June 10, 2008. Student: $100.00, non-student: $50.00. None refundable. Send Deposit (check only) to: Lian Zhen, PO Box 33142, Reno, NV 89533. In 2007 there was a waiting list. To reserve your space please send in your deposit early in 2008. Full payment is due on August 15, 2008.
